The Na Bolom Cultural Association develops various programs; from cultural, health and environmental aspects; the latter focuses on forest production and community support, currently having a central nursery (Na Bolom), 5 nurseries in the highlands region and 7 nurseries in the border jungle region.
The nursery that Na Bolom currently has was built in 2019, since then there have been favorable results in terms of the production of native trees from the highlands of Chiapas. To date, reforestation campaigns have been carried out year after year, in just 6 years more than 270,000 trees of different species have been delivered.
Unfortunately, the lack of equipment and spaces to increase production limits us to a certain number of beneficiaries for the donation of trees for the purpose of reforestation. In addition, the lack of resources to support communities in building community nurseries limits our ability to support and impact the areas interested in these conservation processes.
The reconstruction phase of the new Climate Change programme office aims to renovate and reinforce the roof structure, ensuring the safety, functionality and sustainability of the space. The focus has been on the total renovation of the roof due to its advanced deterioration, integrating quality materials and responsible construction techniques. To date, a series of activities have been carried out according to the planned action schedule.
2.1. Activities carried out:
The existing tiles were carefully removed, preserving those in good condition for possible future use.
The old beams supporting the roof were removed due to structural wear and tear and to make way for the installation of a renovated system.
The electrical installation on the roof was safely disconnected and removed in compliance with safety regulations.
Work was done to match the support lines of the beams, ensuring a suitable foundation for the new structure.
The wood intended for the new roof was cured with products that protect against pests and moisture, increasing its durability.
The wood pieces were custom cut to fit the structural specifications of the design.
The new beams and corresponding supports were installed and secured appropriately to ensure stability.
Sheets were placed as a roof covering, providing immediate protection against weather conditions.
2.2. Current status:
Progress percentage: 75%.
Status: The main structure of the roof is complete, which represents a significant advance. As part of the agreements, the association members have collaborated in the rehabilitation of said space without leaving any trace.
Pending activities include:
Reinstallation and testing of the electrical system.
Placing the tiles.
Placement of final finishes in the areas worked on.
2.3. Observations:
