YOUNG GIRLS INNOVATORS CHAMPIONS

By EPIFANIA WILBARD | PROGRAMS MANAGER

The ongoing Innovation club at the School of St Jude has witnessed remarkable progress and unwavering dedication from a group of 16 distinguished girls. These young innovators have put in tremendous effort to enhance their project prototypes, taking them to the crucial testing stage. Complementing their endeavors, the girls have also received comprehensive training in Basic Business skills, equipping them with the knowledge necessary to expand their projects into the market successfully.

In parallel, a separate cohort of 12 girls from the partner institutions (THE Girls Foundation of Tanzania and GLAMI) aged 12-17 was enrolled through the Creative Capacity Building workshop, emphasizing the school's commitment to fostering innovation and entrepreneurship among young girls. This group presented two impressive project ideas: the Onion copper and rice sorter. With their enthusiasm and determination, they have taken significant strides in developing their projects to a more advanced stage.

The commendable progress of the rice sorter project led to its display at a prestigious university entrepreneurship event. This platform not only provides exposure for the project but also offers an opportunity for recognition. The management of the event has generously promised a prize, which serves as encouragement for the young innovators. Additionally, the connection with the Small Industries Development Organizations (SIDO) further enhances the prospects for the project's future development and refinement.

The combined efforts of the Innovation club and the Creative Capacity Building workshop demonstrate the substantial impact they have on nurturing the next generation of innovators and entrepreneurs. By empowering these young girls with essential skills and providing them with platforms to showcase their projects, the mentioned Twende partners are sowing the seeds of a brighter future.
