Children Gain Internet Access

By Sandy Watson | Field Coordinator, Abba's Children's Center

In partnership with Brian Anderson, Abba's House Children's Center purchased several METL (poverty Mobile Educational Technology Lab) MINI Boxes. Each kit contains a server, battery, power switch, and large power cord in one case. The server is a Raspberry Pi based computer that hosts a captive WiFi router, an embedded web server, and over 60 GB of educational material and 20 iPads for the children to use during educational lessons. These boxes come loaded with all curricula in Spanish, and some of it very complex, such as trigonmetry. The children are using the boxes and iPads to learn so much more than they could have without them.

In addition, the chldren are in their summer vacation Bible school phase that happens each year. This year, they each had to invite two other children who do not attend the Center and agreed to talk to the other children about Jesus.

Finally, the Center completed a Medical Clinic located just behind the Center. To date, it is an empty building, but we are praying to have it furnished with medical equipment and supplies one day.
