The school year started off with a bang with our third annual Environmental Education Fair! We were joined by local environementalist organizations to celebrate our Mother Earth and learn of different ways we can take care of her here in the town of Canoa. Our students presented dance, poetry and theater while our guests wandered booths about organic agricultural, ecotourism, and second hand clothing. Overall it was a fun and educational day that gets better each year!
In fact, on the day of the fair, we met Bruno, a young agronomy student who attended representing FOCAZNOM, a local organization that helps farmers get fair prices. His fun presentation showed us that he would be a great teacher for environmental education at Los Algarrobos! Soon after, Bruno officially became the newest member of our team! He now comes to school once a week to teach through both theory and hands-on activities. So far, he has built a compost area and established a routine for organic waste disponsal with the seventh and fifth graders. He will soon move on to build a tree nursery before the rainy season. We are very grateful for his time and work!
This important program is possible thanks to your continued support! Bruno deserves to be paid and he is thanks to you! Your donations also help us to buy tools and supplies needed for his project. Sign up for a monthly donation now and your first donation will be matched 100%! Thank you so much!
