Summary

Our girls' school faces a critical challenge: the lack of a Junior High School (JHS) block to host our growing number of students. Without this facility, many students risk discontinuing their education, leading to increased vulnerability to teenage pregnancy, child labor, and exploitation. This project seeks funding for constructing a JHS block, including classrooms, a dining hall, a staff common room, and a science laboratory, ensuring continuous education for our students.

Challenge

TBGS currently serves 300 students from Kindergarten to Class 6. Last year, the promotion of our first batch to JHS 1 highlighted a significant infrastructure gap. The lack of appropriate educational facilities not only jeopardizes the students' future but also exposes them to social risks such as teenage pregnancy, child labor, and exploitation in the Galamsey mines. Constructing a JHS block is imperative to ensure these girls can continue their education in a safe and conducive environment.

Solution

This project will provide a conducive learning environment to support the academic progression of students. It will also enhance educational outcomes, reduce dropout rates among girls, and provide a conducive and hygienic environment for students to eat.

Long-Term Impact

Our model aims at making these girls health champions by eradicating the barriers to accessing the social determinants of life; Healthcare and education. Eight rural cocoa farming communities will be free from being school drop-outs, and malnutrition, have better opportunities in life, and secure the future of the people responsible for the sweet cocoa products we enjoy.
