Report No. 1 - positive news

Dear friends,

Our feedback will sound funny: We did not manage to retrench all of those people you see in the picture. They did not want to leave and be without any income or help and opted for half time or just piece work! Of course, we all feel relieved.

However, the funny thing is, that ALL of the crew of Tiko, retrenched or not, have now accepted the idea of having vegetable rings, at least one, and only one woman does not have one, but has started.  That is just wonderful because the vegetable in the yard will help a lot. There are still extra problems, like water. And, what do those colleagues do, who don’t have a plot and a house, but live on rent.

We are thinking hard and might get those people to make the three fertilizers here, HOT 18 DAY BERKELEY COMPOST, as well as HUMUS from a little worm farm for and VERMILIQUID, i.e. wormcast, which is fertilizing and pest controlling. Those organic fertilizers, we hope, we will manage to develop to standard quality so as to sell for the next season, when all Zambian farmers will not be able to buy artificial fertilizer and will start understanding the advantages of organic compost.

There is fantastic progress.
