OLI closes the gaps between teaching and learning by providing curriculum-aligned open education resources, from lesson plans to teaching materials, to teachers. Utilizing MediaWiki as a communal platform, our flagship project is www.CNBGuatemala.org in Guatemala, and is already being accessed from Mexico, Colombia, Ecuador and other countries of the region. The curriculum is set up on a wiki, by modules, where teachers can upload and download resources.
OLI maintains the Guatemala Online National Basic Curriculum, now reaching over 200,000 teachers each month! As the demand for CNB grows, both in Guatemala and in other countries, we need resources to keep it going! And we need to set up websites specific to other countries. Our current capital campaign aims to get 1 year's operating costs and enough project funds to allow expansion into at least one new country in 2021.
By becoming a donor you guarantee the cnbGuatemala.org website can operate without interruption and continue to expand the number of Open Educational Resources it offers teachers, as well as investing in start-up costs for expansion across Latin America!
In 2019, CNBGuatemala.org reached 140,000 users monthly. With the pandemic this grew to 200,000 in 2020 - in October we reached over 300,000 users and half of them came from outside Guatemala (see chart attached). Guaranteeing access to the curriculum when they need it and to educational resources to teach effectively each day throughout the school year has become more critical than ever during the pandemic and with most teaching and learning occurring online. In 2021, we hope to expand...
