Project Report | Jun 18, 2024
Viene algo grande / Great things coming

By Edgar Rolando Barillas Romillo | OLI Board President

¡¡¡Muchas gracias!!!

As you are aware, OLI was born in 2015 to help sustain cnbGuatemala.org, a website disseminating the content of the Guatemalan national curriculum and a variety of open educational resources, many directly aligned with the curriculum.

Since 2013, when the website began as a citizen initiative, our aim has been to help teachers find the resources that help them better conduct their work. However, we have always been clear that disseminating the curriculum and reaching the vast numbers of teachers is necessarily a government responsibility. For this reason, since its inception cnbGuatemala.org was placed at the disposal of government officials in the Guatemalan Ministry of Education. Over the years some made better use of the site than others, but financially the website continued to depend mainly on external donors, including international assistance and, of course, many individual friends like you!

This is now poised to change. The new government has expressed a decided interest in incorporating the website and its content fully into the toolbox of online resources it offers all teachers in the country. In no small measure this reflects the fact that the new Director General for Curriculum is a longtime user of cnbGuatemala.org.

I cannot stress enough how this would not be possible without your help. It is only thanks to individual donors' unflagging support that we are able now to complete this long-envisioned goal.

We still count on your support during this transition process.  Thanks a lot!!!
