Thank you for support women, girls and trans in Hong Kong! With your generous donation, last month HER Fund was able to organise an Intersectionality Workshop for organisers.
Intersectionality is an important concept that informs on how we look at social change. While the concept has grown popularity in recent years, we have yet to discuss what does the lens of intersectionality inform on our work.In light of this, we hosted a workshop with A-lephants, a group focusing on asexual issues in Hong Kong. This workshop gathered organisers from different backgrounds to exchange on the topic.
During the workshop, participants reflected on how different socioeconomic factors affected their daily lives; learned about intersectionality as a theoretical concept; and exchanged ideas on how to incorporate the perspective of intersectionality into community work. Most participants said the workshop was inspiring and insightful. They expressed willingness to consider intersectionality in their future work. Most reflected on their relationship to the community they serve. The exchange of ideas among organisers working with and coming from different communities was most meaningful.
In the future, we would like to continue to stregthen the capacity of marginalised communities. Please continue to support our cause. Your donation will allow HER Fund to walk alongside our grantee partners, connect with international networks, and create opportunities for overseas exchange and learning, bringing about change for marginalised communities.
Thank you again for your contribution. Please invite your friends to join the community and support the gender movement in Hong Kong.
Best,
Judy
