Season Greetings from Namibia

By Miriam Faust | Fundraising Development Manager

Dear Friends, Supporters, and Followers,

This holiday season, we had the joy of organising a special Christmas celebration for the children in our care. Thanks to your generous support, we took the kids to a local waterpark for a day filled with laughter, splashes, and unforgettable memories. For many of them, it was their first time experiencing such an outing, and the excitement on their faces was truly heartwarming.

The day was not just about fun but also about creating lasting bonds, offering the children a safe space to relax, and giving them a glimpse of the joy the festive season can bring. We enjoyed a shared meal, exchanged small gifts, and reflected on the values of gratitude and togetherness. This event reminded us all of the incredible impact a supportive community can have on young lives.

Workshops:

At the heart of what we do lies a commitment to empowering those in our care and the broader community. We are excited to share a new initiative aimed at fostering cross-cultural understanding and addressing outdated stereotypes.

Starting January, Wadadee Cares will offer workshops for our volunteers focusing on Namibia's history, culture, and the challenges of combating racism, colonial legacies, and inequality. A test run of the workshop took place earlier this year, with engaging sessions on topics such as:

  • Racism Awareness
  • Namibia’s Colonial History
  • Development Aid and Post-/Neo-Colonialism

Interactive exercises, such as role-playing games, group discussions, and source text analyses, made these sessions particularly impactful. One notable activity allowed participants to experience the disparities in privilege based on factors like socioeconomic status, gender, and race. This not only deepened our understanding of global inequalities but also helped us appreciate our own privileges and responsibilities.

We are looking forward to expanding these workshops in 2025, providing a platform for volunteers to learn, grow, and contribute meaningfully to our mission.

As we celebrate the end of another year, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude to all our supporters. Your belief in our mission makes it possible to create joyful moments, nurture meaningful learning experiences, and build brighter futures for the children and communities we serve.

From all of us at the Home iNAMi and Wadadee Cares, we wish you a festive holiday season and a happy, healthy New Year. Together, let’s continue making a difference!

Warm regards,
The Wadadee Cares Team
