Annual Walk Against Sexual & Gender-Based Violence

By Nyaka Global | Project Leader

On July 19, 2024, the Nyaka Walk Against Sexual and Gender Based Violence is set to witness a tremendous turnout, with students, teachers, and community members expected to unite to raise awareness and advocate for the protection of women and children. This event will be a pivotal part of Nyaka's ongoing efforts to combat sexual and gender-based violence in Uganda. By drawing attention to the issue and fostering a community-wide dialogue, the walk aims to play a crucial role in preventing future violence. Participants will march through the streets, holding banners and chanting slogans that call for an end to abuse and exploitation. The collective presence and voices of the walkers are anticipated to send a powerful message to potential perpetrators and highlight the community's zero-tolerance stance on violence.

Public events like the Nyaka Walk Against Sexual and Gender Based Violence have a profound impact on communities by fostering solidarity and raising collective consciousness about critical social issues. Such events create a visible and unified front that demonstrates the community’s commitment to tackling problems like gender-based violence. This collective action not only brings attention to the issue but also encourages individuals to engage in meaningful discussions, educate themselves and others, and take personal responsibility for creating a safer environment. Additionally, public events can mobilize resources, attract media coverage, and garner support from local and international stakeholders, amplifying the reach and effectiveness of the advocacy efforts. By bringing people together, these events cultivate a sense of community empowerment and resilience, paving the way for lasting change and stronger, more supportive networks.

Thank you for your continued support that makes this all possible
