As reported by EDJA Victor:
At the tender age of sixteen, I found myself an orphan, alone and without hope or the money needed to afford tuition to attend school. So, when a family friend offered me an opportunity to work in her shop, I accepted it. However, imagine my dismay when upon my arrival, I was immediately put to work in a bar and forced to have sex with the male patrons. After eight months of this abuse; I was forcefully chased away when I finally had the courage to say “No.”
Someone who heard one of EDJA’s radio broadcasts contacted them on my behalf. EDJA got me to a hospital and contacted the police in order to initiate the arrest of my abusers; later I was reunited with my extended family. Even though I have since learned that I am HIV positive, I live with hope for a future since EDJA ensures that I receive the medications needed while they continue to fight for my justice.
