Project Report | Feb 11, 2025
RECYCLESPAY FOR 1000 CHILDREN

By ALEXANDER AKHIGBE | PROJECT LEADER

Dear GlobalGiving Community,

This is officially my first report to you in 2025.
The year is special for two reasons.

1. Our RecyclesPay Educational Project was enhanced with the distribution of the "Green Advocate Book," an animated work creatively teaching children about climate change and how they can take action.
2. It's also our 15th anniversary this year. In June 2025, we will mark this milestone with a series of giveback projects.

The Recycles Pay Educational project received immense support from this community last year; for that, we remain indebted to your generosity.

Our journey in the last quarter isn't one I will describe as being smooth.

Our pickup in the last three months from participating is 324.6 kg.

These were months when schools were reopening. The major cause of the lower number was majorly our out-of-service truck, which was down for weeks.

More parents are also being forced to prioritize food over education due to the country's economic state.

Challenges exist even in more ideal situations; we decided to take this mindset and introduced the Bottles for Pads project, enabling young girls in schools to access sanitary wear by exchanging plastic bottles. This was tested in one of our participating schools (Kingston).

We are committed to designing a project process that makes sense logistically and to our partner schools. We will keep testing and building partnerships, which will serve our objective of getting 1000 children back into proper teaching facilities.

We are excited for the chapter this year holds and hope you will stick by us like you did in 2024.
