We would like to share two stories with you during this project report. The first, a wonderful example of the dedicated and hard working people that continue to save newborn lives in eastern Uganda and the other, an incredibly sad day when we lost one of our amazing neonatal clinicians.
Last week we were surprised by a visit from two little ladies who we took care of in the neonatal unit in Mbale in 2016. Born weighing 900g and 1000g, they came with their tiny cardigans that they wore when they were in hospital. They are now three years old and enjoying school in middle class. Please enjoy the photo below, it is hard to believe they were ever so small! Thank you to everyone who supports us and gives these small people a chance at life.
Born on the Edge is also deeply saddened to inform you that one of our amazing neonatal clinicians, Lina Acom passed on in January after delivering her first born baby girl. We are so blessed to have had this kind, beautiful, intelligent and loving lady as part of our team for the past four years. She saved many little lives and inspired so many to follow in her pathway. A dedicated and talented teacher she has left a legacy of newborn care that will continue for many years to come. She will be very much missed by all who knew her.
Please take a moment to remember her and help us continue to build on the foundations in neonatal care in eastern Uganda that she contributed towards.
