Giving Sight to the Cataract Blind

Fatima Memorial Hospital came into being with a goal to endow healthcare to the underprivileged and we have been striving ever since to ensure maximum assistance is provided.

Cataract-an eye disease that disturbs the vision leads to thousands of surgeries annually in Pakistan.

The disease which is a common cause of vision loss especially in old age is curable and the only cure for which according to the doctors is surgery. This disease can attack anybody after the age of fifty years.Approximately, 60% of all cases of blindness reported in local population are caused due to either delayed or inadequate intervention in treating cataract. Majority of the individuals suffering live in remote areas of the country and are unable to travel to cities where the majority of services are located.

This year during the month of Ramadan, Fatima Memorial Hospital took an initiative of providing 100% free cataract treatment to as many patients as possible. The hospital has always worked towards providing free and subsidized treatment to the indigent communities and continues to do so. Since there is a vast majority suffering from this disease, Fatima Memorial Hospital has extended its support to cure this disease by providing more and more free cataract surgeries for the poor. Approximate cost of the surgery is USD 100.00 and as mentioned above, there is a large majority patients suffering for which the hospital is dependent on its donors.

Donations from our generous donors makes us serve more and more people. The patient numbers are increasing every day and we do not want to break the chain.
