Support for 1500 Women in Yendi for Soap Making

Thanks to all who supported this project so far with funds. I can assure you that your little effort has actually pushed the project some steps forward. We sincerely appreciate everyone including those that were indirectly involve so far with what has been achieved. There are several needs to meet before starting a full-scale training of soap making such as: Purchasing of Tools/Equipments Construction of Training Center Training on Safety, Hygiene and Environment (SHE) Management Training on Quality Control/Quality Assurance of Soap making to ensure customer satisfaction Skill training on Production processes Capacity Building Admin Expense Purchasing of Raw materials As funds keeps coming, we focusing of Tools/Equipment purchasing for the production. For the purposes of this report or updates we have just purchase six Wooden stirrers Cooking pot Cutting table and six Stamping boxes. As funds keeps coming we hope to complete the Tools/Equipment purchasing and starting molding blocks for the construction of the Ultra-Modern Training Center for the Yendi Women Group who are still visioning and hoping to see full-scale training coming alive. On this note we challenge our donors and partners to continue contributing more to this charitable project and also help in the effort to raise more funds by involving others too. We will finally appreciate GlobalGiving so far for their effort in pushing and also encouraging us when hopes are far from us. Its also our hope that come next report we will total challenge and transformation on this project through more funds to be raise. Ghana White Soap (Samla Yen) Black Soap is a soap made from Saponified Palm Kernel Oil. The production process is quite lengthy, but the ingredients are simple and natural-palm kernel oil and cocoa pod ash(same as black soap). … It is said to be just as effective as traditional dark black soap, but milder on the skin. INTRODUCTION Several economic benefits were envisaged under the pale soap manufacturing project. These included the creation of employment opportunities, raising the productivity of rural Ghanaian women, increasing their income earning capacities, and equalizing incomes between-marginal and core groups within the rural community. The attainment of these targets were measured by ex-ante and ex-post analysis of the economic situation of women in the selected communities for the soap project. Of direct and immediate concern was the economic viability of the project shown by cost benefit measures. Subsequent sections illustrate the method for the cost assessment for soap manufacturing according to the traditional and improved technologies. 4.2 ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY The estimates of production costs may be made by assessing those costs which are fixed each year and those which are variable according to the level of soap out-. put. In order to estimate fixed costs on an annual basis, investment costs of items such as land, traditional processing equipment, the TCC soap boiling tank, moulding trays, cutting table and other accessories should first be calculated as Illustrated in the following table.
