Since we started this project, Syria, and Turkey, have been in the news again because of the destruction caused by the earthquake of 6 February and the following days.
12 years ago, almost to the day, on 15 March 2011, the tragic war in Syria began, followed by the misery of the sanctions, the economic crisis, Covid-19, cholera and now the earthquake. Syria was a beautiful, prosperous, safe, and sovereign country, yet its people must endure so much.
The main victims are the children who have never known peace. Millions have never been to school. Thanks to your generous donations and with the work of the local Blu Marists volunteers, some of them can receive an education and have started with their studies. Their schools, however, have been closed to serve as a refuge for the families and individuals that have lost their homes, but they are now slowly reopening.
The children can’t wait to be together again, to play, learn and be helped to go through another trauma. With your support, you give a future to these children. Please consider sharing this project with your friends and family to send even more children to school. So many problems but school is the solution!
