Dear Friend,

Thank you so much for your support! You have helped to fully fund key components of our project “Hurricane Harvey: Help Children Weather The Storm.” Because of your generosity we were able to do a rapid assessment of where we could be support the most vulnerable children in the greater Houston area affected by Hurricane Harvey, and help coordinate with local partners getting services and educational supplies to them.  Through your support we were able to:

  • Procure and deliver educational supplies for teachers and children in schools around Houston
  • Help to identify educational and psychosocial needs of children and educators in greater Houston
  • Launch a 12-month program to provide psychosocial support to vulnerable children, including training for educators on handling distress and trauma among children and caregivers;
  • Trauma training and support for parents, caregivers and young children under age 6 who were affected by the storm
  • Training for clinicians to provide in-school group therapy and support to distressed and/or traumatized children
  • Development of an innovative, online trauma simulation training so that teachers and other school staff can identify signs and symptoms of trauma and get children the help they need to heal

Thank you for making a difference in the lives of children right here at home in the United States. We are now closing this project on the GlobalGiving site. We would greatly appreciate your continued support of the UNICEF Emergency Response project here on GlobalGiving. By supporting UNICEF’s work through that program, you can receive updates on current emergencies happening around the globe, UNICEF’s response, and how you are creating an impact.  You can continue to see updates on our programs at www.unicefusa.org; following us on Twitter, or on Facebook.

Thank you!
