Since Covid-19 cause a drastic change in our daily functional activities here at Centre Marembo, we have made changes in our programs. We had our teen mothers reintegrated back to their families, and at the same time, distribute nutritious food and other basic necessities to them as currently they cannot financially support on their own. We also encourage them to follow nursing and hygienic practices to make sure both the young mothers and their babies are not susceptible to diseases and infections.
At our shelter we are only limited to have 20 young girls who are under the following criteria: tested negative for Covid-19; does not have any relatives or family friend to take care of them; and are most vulnerable to rape, abuse, GBV, and any other dangers lurking on the streets. The Education and Vocational Training Program follows the same limit rule of beneficiaries - though lower in comparison of the shelter- and most of the mothers cannot attend to the training since they have to look after their own children since pre-kinder and primary schools won’t open until early 2021.
