Many of us experience a luxury that often goes unnoticed: the pause button. We have support systems, shelters, and other comforts to lean on during times of stress or need. These simple luxuries vary from person to person; some may have more, while others have none at all. The truth is, life isn't always sunshine and roses, but we can be the difference that counts. You might be wondering, "What does that mean?" or "What do simple luxuries have to do with support?" The answer is that these factors can make or break a person. Here's why your support is vital.

Imagine for a moment that your name is Khayla. Instead of coming home to decompress and refresh before a new day, you arrive home stressed about providing for your child while juggling school, work, and caregiving—all on your own. For this young mother, Khayla, there was no pause button; this was her reality, which began with a lack of support. She not only lost her mother as a baby, but she also had to grow up quickly to care for her grandfather. To cope, she struggled with addiction, and when she found out she was pregnant, her partner left her to fend for herself and her son.

Before discovering hope, Khayla felt as though every door was closing and doubted she would ever be able to provide a stable future for her son. But thanks to you and the support from HOPE, she was able to create a home for her child. Instead of feeling overwhelmed, she could rest more and focus on graduating this December. Your giving provided essential assistance; we helped Khayla with rent and secured safe, affordable childcare so she could continue her college degree. She no longer feels alone and is better equipped to support her son.

Now, Khayla is just a few months away from graduating, and her son, Sir, has a brighter future ahead!

Shanquinita was struggling to make ends meet while supporting her family, going to school, and working at UPS. It was always a dream of hers to own her own business, and after working for years at UPS, she set her sights on moving up the ranks. However, she couldn't do that without her degree. 

As a first generation college student, balancing work, motherhood, and college life wasn't easy. She often found herself struggling to work enough hours and pay rent. With no family support, she didn't know where to turn. And then she found H.O.P.E while searching for an answer to her problems.
