Dear Donors,
Firstly let me thank you for your kind generosity towards our project to support the Landegama Vidyalaya, a rural school in Welimada (Badulla District, Uva Province).
One of our generous donors from the USA approached us in December 2022 and requested our support to facilitate the Landegama School Development Project. After doing our due diligence, we decided to take on the project and support this deserving school to be equipped, which would result in raising the standards of this school.
The first request we received from the school was to support setting up a Western band in the school. With your generous donations, we were able to fulfill this requirement. We purchased the western band equipment and funded the western band costumes for the school and donated them.
We made a visit in March 2023 and were very happy to see the students who played for the band and they showed their amazing talents to us. We thank Mrs. Maheepa Dissanayaka, the teacher in charge of this project who has worked tirelessly to support this donation.
In April 2023, for the inter-house sports meet, the band performed and all those who were present have been delighted.
This donation would not have been possible if not for your kind generosity.
Subsequently, we also donated Library books to the school.
Our next initiative for the school is to set up an IT Lab. This would entail initially purchasing a few computers for the school. A classroom to commence this project has already been identified. The budget for this initiative is LKR 1 million (USD 3,000).
We have registered this project for the July Bonus Day which is happening on the 12th of July on the GlobalGiving Platform.
Only donations of USD 100 and up will count on Bonus Day and, the higher the donation, the higher the match! GlobalGiving's July Bonus Day campaign will begin on July 12, 2023 at 9:00 EDT and will end when matching funds run out, or on July 12, 2023, at 23:59 EDT, whichever comes first.
The July Bonus campaign will have a Matching Fund of USD 400,000.
