Final Project Report on Adequate Housing Activities

By Maria Silvia Emanuelli | Coordinator

Nuevamente,

¡Gracias!

Final Project Report

On behalf of the Habitat International Coalition, we would like to express our gratitude for each of your donations to the fundraising project, Support Adequate Housing in Latin America. Your support has been immensely valuable in strengthening various actions in favor of the human right to adequate housing. In particular, we have successfully prepared and held the last two hybrid meetings of the Regional Working Group on Social Production of Habitat (VIII Meeting and IX Meeting), which saw significant participation from organizations and movements from different countries in the region, such as Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Cuba, Guatemala, Ecuador, El Salvador, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, and Venezuela. These meetings have been essential for raising awareness about the housing crisis that the region faces, as well as for fostering dialogue, analysis, and the development of collective work plans to address it—especially those that recognize Social Production of Habitat as a viable solution. Additionally, other actions were carried out, such as the creation of public discussion spaces on significant topics, including the hybrid forum: “Habitat crisis and climate change: from local responses to the international debate", which we continue to follow up on to disseminate the experiences presented on it; sharing on the Coalition’s platforms and networks of collective statements, reports, and informational materials; as well as strengthening and establishing new alliances with diverse actors to enhance debate and generate proposals for action and solidarity.

Although we have made progress in the visibility of collective proposals regarding adequate housing and the recognition of Social Habitat Production in the region, we still face a wide variety of obstacles and challenges. Therefore, we will continue working to ensure that access to the right to adequate housing for all people becomes a reality. We look forward to keep walking this path of solidarity with you and to advance together towards a more just and peaceful world.

If you want to continue supporting out work, you can do so through our project Support Evicted People in Mexico, which aims to strengthen strategies for the promotion and defense of vulnerable people whose right to housing is threatened or violated, by doing so through legal assistance, training and support in emergency cases.

Once again,

Thank you!
