Ithemba Labantu organization plans to build 5 classrooms to provide free skills to develop program to the 100 abused women and girls who left their homes to stay in the streets , from rural areas in Durban and also provide these women and girls with with shelters to live in with free meals.
Kwa Zulu Natal tops the list for violence against women and young girls in the province alone,up to 665 women and 91 girls during the reporting, this equates to 20% of women murders committed in the province.Many Women are leaving their homes to the streets of Durban, doing drugs, prostitution and cheap labor.They do not want to go back home as they are scared. This project will affect more than 1000 women who are living in the streets of Durban and Shelters allow them better life opportunity.
Ithemba Labantu provides nutrition, counseling, drug rehabilitation, and health care to abused women victims.The women and girls are trained in farming, sewing,packaging, arts, crafts, marketing, skills, and business studies.These women will be taught how to run their business and sharing their knowledge with their employees, and becoming a solution to their communities.
The project will help and train 1000 women allowing them to get out of the streets life and poverty, to be able to provide for their children education and well-being
