The new year may be well underway, but I would be remiss not to wish all of you and your families the very best in 2025.
Please take a close look at the photo at the top of this update. The last person on the right is Jorge. Jorge is a graduate of the rehab program who, from time to time, joins us on our Outreach walks as a way of getting back to the community and keeping his sobriety and life objectives in check. Without getting into the personal details, we can say that Jorge came from a very grim place and that his rehabilitation, with the help of the Puriscal Rehab Center and Esperanza Urbana, is a resounding success. We are very proud of him for giving back to the community in such a caring way.
I often say that our volunteer team is one of the best in the country and we recently got another proof of that! We usually shut down for 2 weeks during the holidays as a way of recharging our batteries for the new year and getting ready for the work ahead. But our fantastic Outreach team would simply not have it. They went ahead and prepared food themselves and showed up to feed the people on the street on Christmas and New Year’s days (see photo below). We are extremely proud of this hard-working team and thank them for their dedication and generosity. We can always use additional hands so if you would like to join us, let us know via the contact information below.
Lastly, if you would like to donate time, gently used clothing or money (via the GIVE NOW button below), please reach out to us at info@esperanzaurbana.org or via whatsappp at 506-8342-2929.
Thank you for your continued support and have a wonderful day.
Cheers,
David
