Hello friends of Esperanza Urbana! Another busy quarter and we are happy to provide you, our precious donors, an update on what is happening with EU.
News from the Rehab Center
We are still working on finalizing the amazing container donated by our friends at Cumming. Rainy season can sometimes slow things down as you can imagine. In the meantime, the volunteer team is getting ready to host a holiday lunch on November 30 for the beneficiaries with a traditional BBQ, presents, music and all-around fun. We will be sure to include some photos of the event in our next update.
We thought it would be on point to include a picture of Sergio, the rehabilitation center director that EU works with and supports. Sergio regularly joins the outreach group on our weekly evening outings. He is well placed to explain, assess, and convince users to enter a rehabilitation process. He and his wife Dayana are the heart and soul of the Puriscal Rehab center, and we are very grateful for their continued support and involvement. David and Sergio are joined on the photo by Tim Garrett of Grupo Garrett, another valued supporter of EU.
Sponsorship Update
We met a few weeks ago with Susan Espinosa, an HR leader at the Garnier Group, to discuss potential involvement between them and EU. Among other things such as financial and social partnerships for outreach activities, their marketing capabilities could also be tapped into to help promote EU and its mission. Our conversation was very positive, and we look forward to working with the Garnier Group in the future.
In Other News...
In the last update I mentioned meeting with the representatives from the London Stock Exchange Group based in Costa Rica. On August 7th, they hosted a talk on their community initiatives through their Foundation which focuses on creating opportunities for those in need to participate in education, employment, and enterprise. After the talk, they prepared food and clothes and participated in our evening outreach with our regular team of volunteer. Their goals are very much aligned with ours and thus we can expect a continuing and fruitful partnership. If you would like to find out more about the LSEG Foundation, please click on the link below.
