Let us start this update with our best wishes for a heathy and happy new year for you and your families.
As you know, one of Esperanza Urbana's objectives is supporting the rehabilitation of men from the streets via the sponsorship of a drug rehabilitation facility in Puriscal. Working hand in hand with the founders and therapists of the facility, Esperanza Urbana has been able to sponsor several men in 2022 and help them reintegrate into society with jobs, housing, and new skill sets to help them build better futures for themselves and their families. Your generous contributions continue to make a difference for these men.
Esperanza Urbana’s team of volunteers is growing strong and new people are joining us on our outreach program every week. Last week, following a presentation and some team building sandwich-making, a group of 20 teachers from the British School of Costa Rica went out on the streets to distribute food and beverages with us. We love to share our experience with groups like this one as it creates awareness and we often acquire new permanent volunteers as a result.
David also presented our organization to St.Jude School to a group of 60 students. They will be involved going forward in different ways such as fundraising and volunteering.
David is always busy speaking with companies and creating awareness. Several of them have recently helped the organization with cash donations and in other ways. For example, the Sheraton group is providing hot meals on a weekly basis which our volunteers are distributing on the streets.Esperanza Urbana will also be the beneficiary of their upcoming anniversary fundraising event.
We are also actively in discussions with Cummins and Citibank. Both of those projects are developing positively.
The English Christian Fellowship has formally included Esperanza Urbana as a beneficiary of their sponsorship dollars so that contribution will be going towards our outreach programs in the future.
The Rotary Club, both locally and internationally, has also reached out to help our mission. David is in discussion with them as to how they will get involved going forward so more on that in a forthcoming edition of this newsletter.
We would also like to thank The BASF Association of Costa Rica for the recent large donation they made to our cause. That money will be well spent in our outreach programs.
These sponsors and our generous donors like you make it possible for Esperanza Urban to continue our mission which is to offer hope and opportunities to the vulnerable youths and others living on the streets of San Jose.
Let's plant seeds of hope, together.
