We are pleased to provide you with some news about Esperanza Urbana (EU).
EU continues to provide strong support to the rehabilitation program via our partnership with the Puriscal rehab center. There were 9 men being supported via the program during the last quarter. The participants attend therapy sessions and educational workshops and support their communities by volunteering in different communities in the area.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your ongoing sponsorship of Esperanza Urbana’s Rehabilitation Project! Because of you, Julian, Lucas, Mauricio, some of the current participants, can work on their own recovery and plan for their future.
On March 26, EU held a fundraising event, Hike for the Homeless, to support the drug rehabilitation program and provide hot meals and clothing to homeless people in the city of San Jose. Over 35 people came and hiked for the cause. The event was held at Hacienda La Chimba, a coffee plantation in the hills of Santa Ana. About $1000 was raised thanks to the participants and others contributors. A huge thank you to all for your enthusiastic participation and generous contributions!
We are very motivated to pick up our weekly outreach activities again in June, and we have a lot of other plans for EU in 2022. Stay tuned to see how we will impact our community.
