Street singer warming everyone's heart
Welcome to Esperanza Urbana's quarterly update. We hope you all had great holidays with your friends and family despite the very particular circumstances once again this year.
The beginning of every year is always a busy time at the rehab center and sure enough there has been a lot of new men starting their rehabilitation journey. The directors of the center have also been very present on the streets of San Jose meeting and identifying potential individuals that might be ready to change their lives. David and a small group of volunteers have been also going out bringing food and hot beverages to people on a weekly basis. As you can see in the included photos, we are meeting very interesting people, such as this great singer playing on a homemade instrument but bringing joy to everyone on a cold night.
The pandemic has been hard on the community but also on our coffers, so we thank you very much for continued support. We could not do it without you! Let’s continue to plant a seed of hope, together!

Participants and volunteers at the rehab center
Welcome to Esperanza Urbana's October newsletter.
We are happy to share what's new with Esperanza Urbana (EU) and the rehabilitation center we sponsor with the help of donors like you.
Vaccination efforts are well underway in Costa Rica and our president David and other members of the EU team have started to look into what is required to ensure we safely can return to in-person outreach soon. Stay tuned for more information.
In the mean time, we continue to support the rehabilitation plans of the men hosted at the Puriscal rehab center. Five men have integrated the center over the last 3 months for a total of 14 currently receiving treatments and support.
Despite the pandemic, many of the usual activities carry on at the center. The participants have attended therapy sessions and educational workshops such as woodworking, gardening and animal therapy. They also support their communities by volunteering in different areas.
Thank you for your ongoing sponsorship of Esperanza Urbana’s Rehabilitation Project! Because of you, Antonio, Ricardo, Esteban – some of the current participants – and many others are able to work on their own recovery and plan for their future.
Let’s continue to plant a seed of hope, together.

Welcome to Esperanza Urbana's June newsletter.
We are happy to share what's new with Esperanza Urbana and the rehabilitation center we sponsor with the help of donors like you.
Vaccination efforts are underway in Costa Rica and we hope to resume our in-person outreach activities very soon. In the mean time, we continue to suppor the rehabilitation plans of the men hosted at the Puriscal rehab center. There have been 9 men being receiving treatments and support in the last few months.
The center is also affected by the pandemia (who isn't?) but has been able to carry on much of the usual activities with some modifications of the protocols such as holding therapy sessions via the internet.
We are including a few pictures that represents some aspects of the life at the center. The men there are receiving excellent care and are forming a wonderful community and we have you, our generous donors, to thank for helping maintain that community during these challenging times.
Let’s continue to plant a seed of hope, together.
