Our Project is complete!

Chris, Steve, and Bruno together again!
Chris, Steve, and Bruno together again!

We just returned from our trip to Uganda! This trip was a huge success and we can't thank you enough for helping to fund this amazing water access for the Kafunjo community.

We started the week by doing some maintenance on our existing water filtration and learning about how the project wanted to apply the water access.

We had to dig 1100 feet of trenching to lay pipe up to the dormitory and school. We were thankful to have a team of local workers helping us dig because it was hard work! We also had to do alot of extra plumbing and hanging of gutters for water collection as well.

Each morning we got up early to clean tanks and set up our spots for collection before it got too hot to be inside the tanks! The students were really excited all week as the project came together.

The last two days of the project we spent testing all our lines and pumps and filling up the tanks for the students to use. We also spent extensive time teaching in each classroom and with the teachers and leaders. It was a very touching moment as in each classroom there was a student who asked if the new system meant they didn't have to go collect water anymore. The impact of a system like this is not just that they save time and energy collecting water. It means they have more access to education and less risk for waterborne illnesses. It also means that the students get to be students! They don't have to worry about collecting water and getting sick from it. They can focus on being kids.

We are so thankful for this project to have gone so well and it was so great to be in Kafunjo and see Bruno and the children again. Thank you again for all you have done to make this possible. All 370 students will benefit greatly from this water access!
