Banette (not real name) is now a happy woman after recieving cloth material from you our dear friends. Benette is a young woman with a Visual disability. She dropped out of school because of lack of school fees. She gave birth to a baby girl and the spouse did not take care thus becoming a single mother.
MPWDA identiified her and through you our dear friends on GlobalGiving, we gave her a sewing machine and some cloth materials to start a business. One day her spouse came back at night and convinced her and she convieved again and gave birth to a pre-mature baby and the situation worsened. She used all the capital she had to get out of the hospital and feed the baby and herself. Through your helping hand, we have been able to make her happy again.
With your generous contibutions, we bought for her cloth material to enable her get capital again. She is now a very happy woman and she promised to use the capital given to her wisely, get profits and add in her business.
MPWDA is very greatful for your support. We still have more girls who need such support. We request for more contributions.

Young women with disabilities doing well
By Faridah Nabbanja | Executive Director

With the great support you give to young women with disabilities, two received sewing machines. They started thier small businesses and they are doing well. We had a monitoring visit to check on how they are progressing and we found out that they were moving on well.
One gave birth to a pre-mature baby but is able to buy milk for her four months baby despite the limited care from her spouse. She has plans of extending her business and get more customers. She is happy despite the challenges she has such as limited capital, taking care of a pre-mature baby among others.
The other one is also doing well. She has tried to put more capital in her business from the profits she makes.
We believe we can support more girls to lead independent lives.
We still have more who need skills training and start up kits to be like the ones we have supported so far
We are requesting that you support us more.
We love and treasure you

Read about Stella our role model

Her name is Angella (not real name) a woman with partial visual impairment, a young mother of two girls. MPWDA with funding from our friends on GlobalGiving skilled her with tailoring. After gaining the skill, we bought for her a sewing machine and gave her start up capital of USD 25. She for the first months stayed with her trainer. Later she rented her own house which she partioned for residential and business. She now makes all kinds of sized clothes including for children and adults. She is loved and respected in the community and this has enabled her gain many customers. She got the idea of expanding from only tailoring and added some already made clothes. She plans to have a big boutique and continue with her tailoring as well. She is a role model to other girls in the community. She plans to live an independent life where she is able to contribute to her life needs including supporting her two daughters for education. She joined a saving group in her community where she saves some money gained from her business.
Her vision after expanding financially is to form a big boutique with tailoring serivces. She is lacking funds to buy dammies, clothes and also partitioning her shop to look attractive.
We believe that with continous support, Angella will be a role model not only to young women with disabilties but to able bodied young women as well.
MPWDA is very greaful for the support from our dear friends. We want to see Stella achieve her dream and also support others to be like her.
Thank you so much for continously supporting young women with disabilities
We love you
