Once again, thank you for supporting Empowered to Educate and our ten amazing Fellows!
We have had a busy and productive several months since our last report….and here are some of the highlights!
We held our third in-person meeting and built upon our core area of leadership training. Dr. Millicent Adjai, mentor and professor, offered a full day on “Personal Leadership: Leading from the Inside Out”. We learned about the principles and practices of Personal Leadership and, to help us center on being our best selves each Fellow prepared and shared her own Personal Vision Statement. One Fellow wants to be “determined, motivated, and innovative so that I can be encouraged to be more powerful” while another wants to be “passionate, interested and engaged so that I can always be full of purpose and joy.”
We also learned what the Fellows have been up to: Agnes our Ph.D. candidate has been doing “lecture/lecture things” while Saudatu reported program growth from 20 to 120 girls! Rose has been busy scaling up her market-based early education program, adding three hours/day…while Fati and Jennifer continue their community advocacy for inclusion and girls’ education. Our Fellows are clearly making a difference!
Our small grant program is in full swing and to help the Fellows sharpen their pitches and marketing, the Fellows pitched their programs to a panel of Mentors. One Fellow remarked: “I never knew our mentors were entrepreneurs as well as social justice advocates…they rock!”
