Rather than "classes" or "courses", Punto Crea is a way of living STEAM. And you are a major part in achieving this. A key part of Punto Crea's work is helping others figure out how Punto Crea can be used within their own activities and for their own educational and development aims. One of the best ways to do this is have them experience Punto Crea directly.
Recently, Ismael Pecher, Punto Crea's Program Coordinator, led a workshop with Food for the Hungry (FH) staff from the US, Peru, Bolivia, Nicaragua, the Dominican Republic and Guatemala. Participants worked together on the “Mapping my Community" learning challenge from Punto Crea's portfolio. They come up with stories and ideas for STEAM activities based on what each of them knew and thought critically about their own community. Punto Crea is looking forward to working further with FH's country offices in turning this first experience into new ways to include STEAM in their country-based activities.
But this is just one example. Over the last weeks Punto Crea has reached out to other current or potential partners, including World Vision, Childfund and its local partners, Rotary International (a Guatemala-based group focused on sharing educational experiences), and New Sun Road to help them find ways to use Punto Crea in their work.
To top it off, just as I write this report, Ismael and Luis Quino (Punto Crea's National Director) are attending the mEducation Alliance's Symposium in Arlington, Virginia, sharing their STEAM education experiences with organizations from all over the world!
None of this would be possible without the resources you contribute to Punto Crea. As I hope this report shows, you are not just helping community-based learning opportunities, you are helping build something much bigger. Más que “clases” o “cursos”, Punto Crea es una forma de vivir STEAM. Y tú eres una parte importante para lograrlo. Un aspecto clave del trabajo de Punto Crea es ayudar a otros a descubrir cómo se puede utilizar Punto Crea en sus propias actividades y para sus propios objetivos educativos y de desarrollo. Una de las mejores maneras de hacerlo es hacer que experimenten Punto Crea directamente.
Recientemente, Ismael Pecher, Coordinador de Programas de Punto Crea, dirigió un taller con personal de Food for the Hungry (FH) de Estados Unidos, Perú, Bolivia, Nicaragua, República Dominicana y Guatemala. Los participantes trabajaron juntos en el reto de aprendizaje "Mapeando mi comunidad" del portafolio de Punto Crea. Propusieron historias e ideas para actividades STEAM basadas en lo que cada uno de ellos sabía y pensaba críticamente sobre su propia comunidad. Durante las últimas semanas, Punto Crea se ha comunicado con otros socios actuales o potenciales, incluidos World Vision, Childfund y sus socios locales, Rotary International (un grupo con sede en Guatemala enfocado en compartir experiencias educativas) y New Sun Road para ayudarlos a encontrar maneras de utilizar Punto Crea en su trabajo.
