Thank you for your generous donation to the Storm Boris Relief Fund. Your contributions continue to make a difference, helping community-led nonprofits provide food, clothing, and essential items to impacted communities. In addition, these funds are supporting debris cleanup efforts and the reconstruction of lost buildings and homes.

This fall, your donations from the Storm Boris Relief Fund supported 11 grants to high-impact and community-led nonprofits at the forefront of this crisis.

With these words in mind, here is a short description of some of the critical work you’ve supported:

  • Zywiec Development Foundation (ZDF) is responding to flooding in the hard-hit area of southern Poland. They are busy at work collecting and distributing essential goods like food, blankets, and water. They are also using funds to purchase additional items for the hardest-hit communities, addressing immediate needs following the disaster.
  • People in Need (PIN) is leveraging its foundation as a leading disaster response organization to rapidly distribute essential items and conduct needs assessments, ensuring that first responders have the most up-to-date information on where service gaps remain.
  • Fundatia Inima de Copil, based in Galati, Romania, is working to recover from the damage caused by Hurricane Boris, which flooded their Pechea Community Center for children. In addition to raising funds for cleanup and renovations, they are supporting local families and individuals affected by the disaster by distributing essential supplies.

Your support of the GlobalGiving Storm Boris Relief Fund powers community-led responses, and it means our trusted partners get the critical resources they need to rebuild. Importantly, your generosity gives them hope as well. As Fundatia de Copil’s team shared:

“We remain hopeful. We have just started, together with another organization, to build three houses for three families who are unable to rebuild their homes. Our Ukrainian colleagues…who are currently in Romania have also been incredibly helpful, volunteering to help us to manage and distribute products and help clean houses of mud.” — Anna, Fundatia de Copil Project Leader

With that, we’d like to let you know that this fund is no longer accepting donations, and this will be the last fund report of this kind from our team. We hope you’ll stay in touch and continue to be part of the change!

About GlobalGiving’s Disaster Response

When a disaster strikes, recovery efforts led by people who live and work in affected communities are often overlooked and underfunded. GlobalGiving is changing this reality. Since 2004, we've been shifting decision-making power to crises-affected communities through trust-based grantmaking and support.

We make it easy, quick, and safe to support people on the ground who understand needs in their communities better than anyone else.

They were there long before the news cameras arrived, and they’ll be there long after the cameras leave. They know how to make their communities more resilient to future disasters, and they’re already hard at work. GlobalGiving puts donations and grants directly into their hands. Because the status quo—which gives the vast majority of funding to a few large organizations—doesn’t make sense.
