The majority of the inhabitants of Roma Community in Kafubu Settlement of Ndola live below the poverty line i.e. live on less than one US dollar a day. Many households have been afflicted by HIV/AIDS witrecorded orphaned children living with single parents or widows with no sustainable livelihoods. The HIV/AIDS epidemic has increased vulnerability of households in terms of draining family assets and financial resources to support the OVC education.
The overall goal of this project is to generate income for provision of educational support needs of at least 371 OVCs in Kafubu settlement, through commercialized village chicken production.
The project will empower 100 caregivers economically,which will allow them to rise out of poverty which will provide for their families,health,well being and education.
