Empower to Prevent Abuse: Safe Kids Awareness and Prevention Program (SKAP) Making an Impact
Cece Yara's Safe Kids Awareness and Prevention Program (SKAP) is making a difference, one school at a time. During this reporting window, we had the privilege of empowering over 1000 children aged 5 to 8 at various schools with vital knowledge about their bodies and safety measures to prevent abuse. Some of these schools include Father Sadiku Memorial Nursery and Primary School, Model Primary School, Ajegunle, St Mary’s Nursery and Primary School, Goriola Nursery and Primary School etc. We are proud to play a part in equipping these children with the essential tools needed to protect themselves. With this knowledge imparted, the children are empowered to safeguard their well-being and speak out against abuse.
Breaking New Ground in Africa's Fight Against Child Abuse
Cece Yara Child Advocacy Centre and Zero Abuse Project, USA, joined forces to pioneer the revolutionary ChildFirst Forensic Interview Training. 30 champions from Nigeria's criminal justice system have emerged equipped with crucial skills to conduct sensitive interviews with child abuse survivors. This landmark collaboration marks a monumental step forward in safeguarding our children and delivering justice where it's needed most. Together, we are rewriting the narrative and setting the standard for global child protection efforts.
Pediatric Association of Nigeria (PAN) Recognizes Cece Yara for Implementing Exemplary Professional Service Intervention
Cece Yara was recognized for its commitment to promoting child well-being and dedication to implementing best practices in child practices at the Pediatric Association of Nigeria (PAN) conference in 2024. As a distinguished guest speaker, represented by our Chief Operating Officer Mrs Bisi Ajayi Kayode, Cece Yara delivered an enlightening session to over 700 paediatricians on the importance of creating safe environments for children both indoors and online, aligning with the conference theme “Safeguarding children indoors, outdoors and online “. This session culminated in Cece Yara being honoured with a recognition award for implementing exemplary professional service intervention.
Uniting Forces: Cece Yara Joins TASCK Networking Event to Drive Social Impact
Cece Yara recently participated in the TASCK Networking Event, uniting creatives and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in a concerted effort to drive social impact and combat poverty. The event served as a platform for fostering connections and collaborations among stakeholders, facilitating meaningful discussions on innovative approaches to address societal challenges. Through engaging in networking opportunities, Cece Yara explored potential partnerships and reinforced its commitment to collective action in the fight against child abuse and poverty. Over 50 influencers, creatives, and child rights advocates were in attendance further enhancing our commitment to work with relevant stakeholders to continue to create awareness within the child protection space.
Super FM Live Session Raises Awareness on Child Abuse Prevention
Our lead Psychotherapist, Gbemisola Ogunrinde, took the airwaves by storm on Super FM, delivering a dynamic session on identifying child abuse signs and preventive measures for parents and guardians. The interactive broadcast captivated listeners, with numerous parents and caregivers calling in to seek further guidance and clarification on issues surrounding child sexual abuse. The broadcast reached an impressive audience of 1,014,131 viewers, with 42% male and 58% female. Through this initiative, we were able to highlight our commitment to educating the public and safeguarding the well-being of children across the community.
Survivor Empowerment at Sexual Assault Referral Centres Meeting
Cece Yara recently participated in a crucial meeting of Sexual Assault Referral Centres (SARCs) in Lagos, hosted by Partnership for Justice with support from the Innocent Chukwuemeka Chukwuma Empowerment Foundation. The focus of this meeting was on fostering partnerships, collaborations, and exploring bright opportunities ahead as regards sexual and gender-based violence. Our Chief Operating Officer shared invaluable insights on empowering survivors through effective case management for sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV). We are committed to sharing best practices and strengthening our ability to offer professional support to survivors in line with established standards.
Cece Yara Advocates for Maternal and Child Health at Eden Venture Group Summit
Cece Yara recently participated in the Eden Venture Group Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health (MNCH) Transforming Together Summit 2024. The summit addressed critical issues surrounding Nigeria's high maternal and neonatal mortality rates, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing women's reproductive health, promoting safe sexual practices, and challenging cultural norms to improve MNCH outcomes. It was an enlightening session, and Cece Yara is proud to have supported such an important cause.

In honour of International Women's Day, we asked women of diverse backgrounds to share their perspectives on womanhood and empowerment. The women reflected on what they cherish about being female and offered poignant insights on how can further empower them. From entrepreneurs to professionals, their stories illuminated the multifaceted nature of the female experience and underscored the collective call for continued advancement in gender equality.
Cece Yara Launches "Safe Space Friday" Initiative
Cece Yara recently launched the "Safe Space Friday" initiative on March 15th, 2024. This innovative social media platform aims to break the silence surrounding abuse by providing a supportive environment for individuals to share their stories, dilemmas, and confessions anonymously. Questions and confessions are directed to our team of psychotherapists, who offer invaluable insights and support to break down the barriers of trauma. "Safe Space Fridays" represents a pivotal step in fostering awareness and healing within the community.
