A Brighter Future for Children and Families

By Socorro del Rio | Director

In the heart of Oaxaca, one of Mexico’s most culturally vibrant yet economically vulnerable regions, malnutrition remains a persistent challenge. Children and families in rural communities face limited access to nutritious food and education about healthy eating. This is where Crecemos DIJO steps in, working tirelessly to break the cycle of malnutrition and poverty.

The Story of Valeria: Valeria’s journey is one of hope and transformation. When she first arrived at Crecemos DIJO’s community center, she was just a baby, severely undernourished and struggling to thrive. Her parents, like many others in their community, lacked access to the knowledge and resources needed to ensure her well-being.

Through personalized nutritional consultations, Valeria’s family began to learn about the importance of balanced meals, locally available nutritious foods, and how to prepare them. With the support of Crecemos DIJO, Valeria’s health improved dramatically. Today, she is a vibrant and energetic child, full of life and potential. Her parents have also become advocates for healthier living, sharing their newfound knowledge with others in their community.

We combine nutrition education with hands-on support. Our approach includes:

  • Nutritional Counseling: Tailored sessions with families to address their specific needs and challenges.
  • Workshops: Teaching parents and caregivers how to prepare nutritious meals using local ingredients.
  • Monitoring and Follow-Up: Regular check-ups to track progress and ensure sustained improvement.
  • Community Engagement: Empowering communities to take charge of their health and well-being.

In the last year, Crecemos DIJO has helped families like Valeria’s achieve better health and nutrition. Children who were once undernourished are now thriving in school, and parents are equipped with the tools to provide healthier meals. These changes not only improve individual lives but also strengthen entire communities.

Your support can make a world of difference. Every donation helps us provide essential resources like nutritional supplements, educational materials, and training for families in need. Together, we can fight malnutrition in Oaxaca and build a brighter future for its children.
