With your support we have managed to continue helping children and their families in the midst of this crisis caused by the pandemic. Although the cases have decreased, "normal" has not yet returned, children are not returning to their classes, and the economic recovery has been very slow. What have we done in this period with your help?
To improve children's nutrition, they have continued to deliver nutritious and balanced meals in "eat at home" mode. The menus and portions are supervised by the nutritionist.
To improve healthy eating habits, face-to-face nutritional monitoring has continued in October and January, taking anthropometric and hemoglobin measurements for children under 6 years of age. Children with malnutrition are channeled to consultations in the company of their guardians to make timely surveillance and recommendations according to their condition. The nutritional education workshops have been carried out asynchronously through videos or infographics.
In order to strengthen the affective bonds between parents and children, we initially worked through early stimulation sessions and healthy parenting habits, to which the children attended with their parents, however, the strategy was modified due to the saturation of responsibilities in the parents. associated with the pandemic, since children still do not have face-to-face classes and stay at home, often alone, to take their classes, while their parents work. Reading promotion at home has been a successful strategy to improve bonding and reduce parental stress, since through reading the relationship between parents and children is propitiated in a natural way with the good night story or lullabies. Books are borrowed from our children's library.
The main results obtained in each of the main lines of action of the project are listed below:
19,200 nutritious meals delivered
300 anthropometric measurements
74 hemoglobin measurements (under 6 years of age)
57% of children have improved their nutritional status
25% of children have increased the consumption of vegetables in their diet
80% of children have increased their knowledge and skills to improve their eating habits
125 training sessions carried out
45% of caregivers have strengthened their abilities in affective parenting habits
The hours of quality coexistence between parents and children have increased by 10% thanks to the reading promotion program
Thank you for continuing to help and for being a hope for children and their families.
