Stand with Palestine

Thank you so much for your support of this project. I’m writing to share some updates from ActionAid’s  emergency response in Palestine. We appreciate you taking the time to learn about and act in response to this crisis.

The humanitarian crisis in Palestine has not been covered by the media recently, but there are still struggles for people living in Gaza and the West Bank.

 Israeli authorities continue to severely restrict the entry of goods and much needed humanitarian supplies into the Gaza Strip under the government’s comprehensive closure policy, despite the visible deterioration of Gaza’s health determinants. Alarmingly,  Israeli authorities have imposed a ban on diagnostic medical devices commonly used for patients testing positive for COVID-19. These restrictions are undermining the population’s right to the highest attainable standard of health..

With your help, we have been able to  implement our signature short term humanitarian response, focusing on the immediate needs of those most vulnerable. So far, we have distributed dignity and hygiene kits to women, and clothes packages to children. We have also provided psychosocial services and individual counseling for women who need additional support. In total, we have reached over 5,000 people, with plans to reach many more in the coming months.

On November 29, 2021, the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, ActionAid organized a Walk for Freedom with the Lejan youth group, where participants walked through Jericho city. More than 600 people from Palestinian communities facing forced displacement took part in the walkathon, and walkers were briefed on examples of expulsion and how forced displacement breaks international law.
