Dear Friends,
We are sending you so much gratitude for the support you give Project Soar!
This year, thanks to the much-valued support of donors like you, funds from the GlobalGiving Sponsor Empowerment for a Teen Girl in Morocco are enabling Girls from five squads to participate in the 2021/2022 edition of Project Soar in a Box. Over the past few weeks, these chapters have been busy registering girls, hosting orientation days, and kicking off the first workshops of the curriculum. One of these amazing squads is Sidi Youssef “Green”, where the new year of Project Soar in a Box has gotten off to a particularly strong start.
Together, the inspiring Empowerment Facilitators of Sidi Youssef “Green” and their cohort of incredible Girls are progressing steadily through the Empowerment Curriculum and have already reached Module 3. This module in particular focuses on helping each Girl understand the changes in her body, knows ways to manage her menstruation efficiently, and values her own health and wellness.
Additionally, Sidi Youssef “Green” hosted a successful Community Dialogue in September, which included the performance of a play by the Girls and discussions with Community Stakeholders on topics such as child marriage and girls’ education. The success of the empowering Project Soar in a Box program in Sidi Youssef is reflected in this quote from the mother of FatimaEzzahra, a Project Soar Girl from Sidi Youssef:
"Before participating in Project Soar, my daughter was very shy and was afraid of people. [...] In her relationships with others, when people yelled at her she didn’t defend herself and she quickly started to cry. Even at school when girls tried to take her school materials or bully her, she didn’t stand up for herself and she started to cry. But after participating in Project Soar, lots of things changed: she started being encouraged and bold and she gained the ability to advocate for anyone in a respectful way. She started meeting new people, she stopped crying and being shy, and started making new friends... Now she is happy and open to new things."
Testimonies such as this certify that the Project Soar Empowerment Solution is truly effective. Through our Empowerment Curriculum, Project Soar Girls like FatimaEzzahra learn about their value, voice, body, rights, and path. They become more confident in themselves, able to express their opinions and views better, and start taking concrete actions to strive toward their dreams. The impact we have on teenage girls and their communities in Morocco would not be possible without you, we are so grateful for your dedication and support.
Stay tuned for more news from Project Soar and never doubt you are making a difference!
Best Wishes,
The Project Soar Team
