The Al-Mustafa Kafalat Programme offers vital support in the form of food, housing, and health care to 3,000 impoverished families in Pakistan, predominantly headed by widows, disabled individuals, or those facing terminal illnesses. Many of these families struggle with little to no income. In addition to providing essential assistance, the programme emphasizes education by offering academic scholarships for children in these families, aiming to disrupt the cycle of inherited poverty.
Poverty is an exceptionally complicated social phenomenon, and its effects are often interrelated in such a way that one problem hardly ever occurs alone. According to the Asian Development Bank stats, 21.9% of Pakistan's population lives below the national poverty line. The ongoing economic crisis has worsened the situation. The effects of poverty are more than just missing a meal; the families struggle with health, malnutrition, illiteracy, homelessness, crime, victimization, stress, etc.
Al-Mustafa Kafalat Programme aims to provide economic, health, and educational support to impoverished families. Each family gets one month's food supply, a cash amount, academic scholarships for the children, and free-of-cost health services. Currently, three thousand poor families benefit from monthly sponsorship under this program, aiming to include more such families. With an average of $80/month expense for one family, $96,000 will be sufficient to support 100 families for one year.
This project provides financial, health, and educational support for 100 impoverished families allowing them to rise out of poverty, especially the children with better growth and educational opportunities under better financial circumstances.
