Dear Donors,

We are pleased to share a summary of the activities held in honor of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. For the third consecutive year, this event took place across multiple campuses of the Universidad Autónoma de Occidente, with invaluable support from the coordinators of the Peraj program.

From February 8 to 15, a series of initiatives were organized to spark interest among girls and young women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), highlighting the crucial role of women in science and promoting gender equity in these fields. Key activities included:

• Inspiring Talks and Lectures: Women scientists and academics shared their experiences and achievements in science and technology.
• Interactive Workshops: Students and faculty engaged in hands-on scientific demonstrations and activities to encourage learning and curiosity.
• Science Exhibitions and Fairs: Dedicated spaces showcased research and projects led by women at the university.
• Discussion Panels: Experts and students discussed challenges and opportunities for women in science.

The participating campuses, all part of the Universidad Autónoma de Occidente in the state of Culiacán, included: Los Mochis, Guasave, Guamúchil, Culiacán, Mazatlán, El Rosario, and Escuinapa.

These efforts play a crucial role in closing the gender gap in science and technology. By shining a light on women leaders in STEM, we inspire young girls to explore their potential, build confidence, and envision new possibilities for their future. Additionally, we foster a culture of equity and inclusion in education and professional development, ensuring that female talent has equal opportunities to grow and succeed.
