Our program, Sponsor a Child's School Day from Tierra Bomba in Cartagena, Colombia, offers high-quality education to vulnerable children on the Tierra Bomba Island. The program provides daily nutritious meals, psychosocial guidance, preventive health check-ups and extracurricular activities in sports, arts and music. Tierra Bomba is a community grappling with severe social challenges such as: extreme poverty, governmental neglect, limited access to health and education, domestic violence, child abuse and drug addiction. Children grow up in unsafe environments with parents in vulnerable situations or struggling with addictions, which greatly affects their growth. The lack of quality education and nutrition significantly hinders children's development, perpetuating a cycle of poverty and social exclusion.
Our program offers a comprehensive solution focused on education as a way to bring change. At the Dones de Misericordia Educational Center, children benefit from quality education using innovative methodologies, nutritious meals, psychosocial support, and extracurricular activities that help keep them away from street dangers. We also run parenting workshops to strengthen families and create safe spaces for children. Families have access to routine health checkups to ensure a physical wellbeing.
