Trip to a Working Farm - Zacky Farms Lahore

Roshni Homes Trust – Trip to a Working Farm.

Last year Roshni Homes Trust established a vegetable garden where the children learned how to compost and grow vegetables for their own use in the kitchen. This project was a great hit and when the opportunity to visit a working farm presented itself, the children and the caretakers were really excited.

Studies have shown that going on field trips is linked with better performance on tests. Kids all learn in different ways, but the teaching methods in a classroom only set up a certain kind of student for success.

Children who learn outdoors know more, understand more, feel better, behave better, work more cooperatively and are physically healthier. The benefits of a visit extend long beyond the children’s time at the farm – they take their new skills and experiences back home and to school, with caregivers and teachers seeing positive and lasting impact on their behavior, learning and self-esteem.

The trip to Zacky Farms in the suburbs of Lahore took place earlier this year and all the children at the campus participated. They toured the fields and got information on multiple crops being grown there. The children especially loved the livestock enclosure and the horse stables. They also learned valuable tips on how manage their own vegetable garden back in Gujranwala.

Overall, the kids had a fun time riding horses and boating in a small pond at the farm and also enjoyed a special lunch arranged graciously by the management of Zacky farms.

Summer Camp Activities

Roshni Homes Trust believes providing the wholesome experience for the orphans living with us the Palms Enclave in Gujranwala Pakistan. For this purpose during the last summer vacations Roshni Homes Held a month long Summer Camp for the children to keep them engaged in activities that enhance their skills and give them a chance to have some fun.

Summer Camp is a special type of community where kids come together to have fun. Within the camp setting, children develop a sense of independence as they try new adventure away from daily routine. Summer camp are known for providing a safe environment where children gain self-confidence as they learn new skill”. That’s why every year during summer break Palms Enclave organize the summer camp for children.

Summer camp took the digital learning route this year too, setting yet another benchmark with all our children who participated in multifarious activities held from 18 June to 19 July, 2021.

The array of fun and creative activities were curated in a way that they not only kept the children engaged and entertained, but also helped the students pick up a hobby or skill that they have their interest in while increasing their concentration, eye-to hand coordination and problem solving capabilities at the same time.

There were 7 clubs in which different activities were designed according to different grades of children. There was an orientation day on July 18, 2021. And on that day all the activities and clubs details (activities & objective, Trainers detail, place, and time slot) were deliver to children to develop the interest to them.

The activities were handled by the various clubs at RHT. Following is the list of clubs which actively participated in the activities:

Language & Skill Club.
Media & Tech Club.
Future scientists club.
Art & craft Club.
Well-being & sports Club.
Horticulture Club.
Nutrition & health Club.
