We cannot thank you enough for your incredible generosity. Because of your support, communities across South Asia devastated by back-to-back floods now have access to essential services, including nutritious food, evacuation, and medical care.

Your contributions have powered five grants to high-impact and community-led nonprofit organizations at the forefront of this crisis.

Here is a short description of some of the critical work you’ve supported:

  • Multi-Dimensional Resource Center, Nepal (MRC Nepal)This grassroots organization, typically focused on climate resilience, jumped into action to provide immediate relief—food, water, medicine, and shelter—to people after the floods in partnership with local authorities. MRC Nepal is also helping communities plan and rebuild for a sustainable future by offering support for long-term income generation so families can rebuild their lives and regain financial independence after the floods.
  • Network for Human and Social Development (NHSD): Founded in the wake of the 2008 Pakistan earthquake, NHSD has been committed to building local disaster response systems and improving access to emergency services. When the recent floods struck, NHSD quickly mobilized, distributing and sending emergency boats to reach people stranded by the waters.
  • Women Awareness Center, Nepal (WACN): WACN has long been committed to empowering women and girls in rural communities in Nepal. When the recent floods hit, they delivered food and clean drinking water to impacted communities, particularly women and girls. Beyond immediate assistance, WACN is also focused on long-term efforts that enhance communities’ resilience to climate change. By providing training in sustainable agriculture and climate-resilient livelihoods, the nonprofit is helping these communities rebuild in a way that supports their recovery and promotes lasting change.

Your support of the GlobalGiving South Asia Flood Relief Fund is driving community-led responses like these, enabling organizations like WACN and MRC Nepal to continue their important work in their communities.

With that, we’d like to let you know that this fund is no longer accepting donations, and this will be the last fund report of this kind from our team. We hope you’ll stay in touch and continue to be part of the change!

You can stay connected with our work through Instagram, Facebook, and our Learn Library, where we regularly share stories about the incredible impact of the powerful GlobalGiving community. If you haven’t already, subscribe to get inspirational email updates from our team here.

About GlobalGiving’s Disaster Response

When a disaster strikes, recovery efforts led by people who live and work in affected communities are often overlooked and underfunded. GlobalGiving is changing this reality. Since 2004, we've been shifting decision-making power to crises-affected communities through trust-based grantmaking and support.

We make it easy, quick, and safe to support people on the ground who understand needs in their communities better than anyone else.

They were there long before the news cameras arrived, and they’ll be there long after the cameras leave. They know how to make their communities more resilient to future disasters, and they’re already hard at work. GlobalGiving puts donations and grants directly into their hands. Because the status quo—which gives the vast majority of funding to a few large organizations—doesn’t make sense.
