The Solar Shelter Kits (SSK) have allowed Puerto Rico Rises to impact families living in serious disadvantages and provide temporary access to a safe home, filtered water and solar energy to cover their basic needs. By removing them from their fragile structures we then have the opportunity to rebuild or repair their homes, while the family is protected and cared for with the equipment provided by the Solar Shelter Kits.
Once we can return them to their safe homes, the SSK is removed and installed to serve another family. This allows us to increase the life of each SSK and expand the impact by providing dozens of families with the same unit.
By expanding our inventory and having more SSK we can impact thousands of individuals who live in deplorable conditions, improve their quality of life and at the same time reduce the impact on climate change.
Puerto Rico Rises was granted building materials for 200 houses. Many of them need to be demolished and completely rebuilt. By having the SSK allows us to remove the family to a safe environment while your home is rebuilt.
With your donations, we will be able to acquire more units and thus increase the number of families that, after 21 months of waiting, can return to a safe home.
