On average, it can be projected that 1/3 of the children living in orphanages in Japan want to be reunited with their families. One-third are happy where they are and one-third do not feel they have a voice.
For the one-third who wish to be reunited with their families, we have endeavored to start a Social Impact Bond to support Youkikai Net https://youkikai.net/ who do training for abusive parents to create a pathway for them to be reunited with their children and also do training for parents before they start on the path of building a family so they are aware of their trigger areas.
We are seeing a rise in abuse cases in Japan over 200,000 recently. Cases do not mean a case per child as a case could involve many children. While the number of car accidents reached over 300,000 we find that as a society we are putting more time, money, and energy into making cars safer and as a result fatalities from car accidents have declined. Why are we not doing the same to address child abuse cases and breaking the multi-generational cycle of trauma and abuse?
