Millions of children in China face educational and emotional obstacles. This project provides Social-emotional Learning (SEL) to thousands of under-served children across China, enabling them to develop a nuanced understanding of their emotions, foster empathy, and take responsibility for their actions. By addressing the critical need for mental health education, our initiative equips children with vital skills for navigating social complexities and promoting emotional well-being.
Millions of children in China grapple with emotional, social, and education challenges due to a lack of mental health awareness and support, differing socioeconomic backgrounds, and limited access to educational resources. Incidences of parental neglect and misunderstanding further exacerbate these issues, leaving children vulnerable and isolated. The absence of a supportive environment impedes their emotional development and ability to overcome personal and academic obstacles.
We launched an initiative to provide social-emotional training to under-served students in China. The training emphasizes guiding children to recognize, communicate, and manage their emotions to help them solve real-life challenges and reach their full potential. Activities are conducted by trained volunteers and designed to explore interests and foster a safe space for expression, including group work and conversation games where vulnerability is respected.
Our goal is to instill resilience, empathy and emotional intelligence in Chinese children, equipping them with the skills to overcome challenges and thrive in their life. By providing mental health support and fostering an environment of understanding, the project seeks to enhance the well-being of children, improving their prospects for higher education and employment. Ultimately, we aim to create a more empathetic and supportive society, where children can grow up as resilient adults.
