Smiling Children Program, as one of the international program of CFPA, aims to address the hunger problem faced by children from indigent backgrounds in Ethiopia. By either provision of school meals or food distribution, the project is in an attempt to facilitate the well-being and development of children in hunger and developing countries' fulfilment of 'zero hunger' vision under United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The project management rate of CFPA is 10%
For promoting education and social inclusion, together with our local partners, since 2015, CFPA's Smiling Children Program provides school-day meals in public schools to nearly 5,000 students in Addis Ababa, Oromia Region and 3000 refugee students in Somali Region, Ethiopia. In 2019, the program was selected as Global Best Poverty Reduction Practices, reviewed by World Bank, Asian Development Bank, FAO, WFP. In light of this, CFPA decided to extend this program to Nepal, Myanmar, etc.
This program not only encourages children to get into school but it can also attract new enrolments from marginalised communities. Not only does education provide a solid foundation for continued learning throughout life, but it is also critically important to children's social integration and psychosocial well-being.
Under the framework of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the project aims to facilitate developing countries to end hunger, and foster the well-being and development for children in hunger.
