Success Story of a Habiba
Habiba, 12, lives in Sector 57 slum in Gurgaon. Being an elder sister of 2, she takes care of her siblings when her parents are away at work. Moreover, Habiba manages the household works and supports her mother in cleaning, cooking and washing clothes too. In spite of the work load at this tender age, Habiba always manages to attend the classes without a miss.
Initially, she was very shy and hesitant to share her story and what was happening around her in the slum. But Habiba was paying attention when the session talks about all the menace prevailing in the society and how one should be attentive to protect herself. The regular interaction in Adolescent Reproductive Sexual Health (ARSH has made her confident to speak about various issues she has learnt and could be brave enough to tell the difference between a good touch and a bad touch. Habiba says “I know when someone attempts to molest a girl then I have to scream and run, share such incident with parents and dial 1098 childline number to get assistance”. She further adds, “I feel so happy that I am getting such knowledge which I can pass on to my friends and sisters”.
