The project is still on hold due to limited finacess or funds at the moment. The women that have attended the previous classes used to come by the organisation to do their projects and sell to doffrernt local before the machines were stolen again in July.
Due to joblessness( unemployment), increased taxes, corruption, drugs, there has been a noticeable surge in robberies and thefty across the country, particularly in urban areas like Kampala most especially the slum areas where people work for daily meals. Abscence of jobs to the youth has led them to so many frustrations and therefore resulting in robbery and thefty for servival. Just last month, on Friday night, the 19th of July 2024, theives went over the fence and broke into the tailoring class and stole the machines again for the second time. This broke us as leaders, but the women who used the machines were so much broken.
As Thread of Women Empowerment Ministries, we plan to start the classes again next year in April with new security measures for the machines and the premises at large. We believe in enrolling new women into the class by starting the recruitment process by the end of this year.
